​​In The Shadow of Longs Peak

I arrive at the parking lot at about 9:30 AM; there were at least 3 parking spaces left, kind of surprising since it’s a warm summer weekend day.

My idea today is to do the Boulder Brook Loop.

Somewhere past the junction of the storm pass / glacier gorge / boulder brook trail intersection there use to be a small stream, kind of magical in its flowers…but this first little stream crossing is bone dry with no flowers…though maybe my memory does not serve me well and it is along another of the trails.

Up I go.  This is a steady uphill and I am feeling it but I know to persevere and just keep putting one foot in front of the other.  I cross the creek, cross back and cross back again.

Around noon, what was initially a light sprinkle turned into a steady rain.  I retrace my steps and return.  2 ¼ hours up, 1 ¼ hours down.
