Greenbelt Plateau Trailhead

Today’s outing starts at the Greenbelt Plateau Trailhead at the intersection of CO 93 128 south of Boulder.  I visited here about 2 weeks ago with the intention of biking the main trail but was unsuccessful, as my knee was not yet up to any hill.   

The main trail is the old highway 93.  There is another single-track heading east that I want to explore. It’s a little rough, just the right challenge for my knee.  I hike a short distance until the trail drops down into the Rock Creek drainage and take pictures.

Normally this type of open, treeless plain would intrigue me but today it’s just a little too monochromatic.  I will come back in the spring or fall when the trees have leaves and provide a contrast in color to the fields.  I do like the rocks in the foreground.
