In The Shadow of Longs Peak
Kersey to Kuner
South Platte River
08 August 2015
This is a nice run, a good place for stoke practice as the river is wide, flat and not pushy. There use to be a nice wide beach put-in at the CR 53 bridge on the north side but that was before the flood of September 2013. There is still a put-in there, but the bank is steep and today there is only room for a boat or two at one time.
Bill Ashworth and another went exploring and found a nice access on the south side of the bridge though it required a bit of a carry. I had already unloaded my boat so stuck with the north side, paddled across and joined the others. Kerry Adams mentioned that the south access is not blocked.
A nice day out !
